2010 Year in Review

Well, it is the beginning of a new year and an opportunity to have a renewed effort to be the best parents that we can be! In light of everything that has been happening with me, I am sure that it has been busy for everyone. I wanted to share a few things that have been happening in my life and highlight a few of the best articles of the past year.

When I look back over 2010, several things stand out as special for me. First and foremost, I LOVE being a mom! It has been such a joy and blessing to stay home with my son and watch every little moment as he develops and grows. It truly gives life a new perspective once you are a parent, and I am thankful to have joined the ranks.

Back to school

I was very excited to begin my doctoral program in the fall, working toward a PhD in Counselor Education. My concentration will (of course) be in Play Therapy, and I am loving learning, growing and expanding through the process. I am currently developing a research project to be completed in 2011 and I will begin teaching again this coming fall.

The Kid Counselor Reality Show?!?

It was an honor to be contacted by two television networks who expressed an interest in programs about children, teenagers and families. They are both in the very early stages of development, and it is unclear if they will be picked up by a network, but exciting to consider the possibilities of The Kid Counselor on TV!

The Kid Counselor Internet Radio Show?!?

Also, a very recent development has been an opportunity to host an internet talk radio program. This is still in the planning and discussion process, but another neat opportunity to bring Play Therapy into the public eye and awareness on a weekly basis around the world.

Parenting Video Training

Finally, we are still throwing around ideas of a parenting DVD series that will help parents learn and implement Play Therapy principles in their homes with their kids. We have been talking with individuals in Texas who have similar ideas and are trying to finalize the details to move toward producing them soon.

So, that is what I have been up to this past year. I hope that you feel a little more connected to me and to why I am passionate about equipping parents all over the world with techniques and tips to be effective and confident in their parenting. So, here are a few of my favorite articles from the past year to keep you refreshed and reminded for 2011. Happy New Year and thanks for being a part of The Kid Counselor!
